Exeter Blitz

Here is a picture showing what areas were bombed in the Exeter Blitz.

The first bombing in Exeter in the second world war was on 7th August 1940 on St.Thomas a source said "Five bombs fell on a South West town on wednesday night. Little damage was done to property, the only casualties were a middle aged man who was able to walk to a first aid post, a canart which died from shock and a few chickens"

Of course the citizens of Exeter did not know that within two years they would go through another raid and the heart of their city was to be hit.

On the 3rd/4th of May160 high explosive bombs were dropped.
