Plymouth Blitz

During World War Two, the highest impacted attacks on Plymouth took place on the 20th and 21st of March, with 336 lives lost. Five more bombings taking place in April tallyed the deaths to 590. Hardly any building survived the Blitz in Plymouth. 

Over 100,000 died many buildings were also burnt. Plymouth went through around 35 air raids. Suprisngly didnt take long to rebuild.

Many of the popular streets like;

Bedford Street, Union Street, Old Town Street, Frankfort Street, Cornwall Street, George Street and more were either completely destroyed or damaged badly.

Many Schools were also hit. For example: Plymouth High School for Girls, the Hoe Grammar school and the infants school at Summerland Place.

Plymouth was one of the worst affected cities to be bombed by the Germans during the second world war. Plymouth suffered over 100,000 deaths and 35 air raids.
